Landing planes on water, shipping side projects, and travelling around
This year, I learned to land planes on water. In June, I earned my Floats rating and became a licensed seaplane pilot.
Back in January, I was considering adding Multi-Engine and Floats ratings to my license. Floats is done, so Multi-Engine and Commercial are next. My logbook now sits at 122 flights, 170 hours, and 365 landings.
On the ground, I've been shipping side projects. The carbon project I mentioned in my last two updates is live: TrimCarbon lets anyone fund verified climate projects that remove or reduce CO₂ from the atmosphere.
I also put out a few smaller ones. Decision Bowl ends the "you pick, no, you pick" loop: fill a shared bowl with restaurants, activities, or movies, and let it pick one for you (there's even a 3D-printable bowl). Hockay is a fan-controlled ice hockey league with hourly games, bets, team shares, and petitions to Le Council. And Safety Briefing is an open-source briefing for general aviation passengers, covering pre-flight preparation and in-flight procedures.
At Resend, we've grown from 5,000 to over 130,000 paying customers since I joined, and I built an AI support agent that now resolves about a quarter of our conversations. I also got to attend Resend Forward in San Francisco.
Work kept me travelling too: San Francisco, Salt Lake City (twice), Rio de Janeiro, and Paris for React Paris. And 2027 will start with a trip to Santiago, Chile in January.
